St. Joseph Cathedral

St. Joseph Cathedral is situated in the heart of the City i.e. Hazratganj. In 1860, a Catholic Church was made in its vicinity which was named St. Joseph Church. It is said that after some time it was felt that the Church building was not very strong hence it was decided to build another building. Therefore, in 1868 a new church was built which existed for 100 years after which this magnificent building of St. Joseph Cathedral came into existence. It comes under the purview of Catholic Diocese of Lucknow. Presently its resident Bishop is the Rt. Rev. Bishop Gerald Mathias. There is a prestigious school in its campus. The Cathedral is beautifully designed from outer and inner sides. A Grotto is made in its compound where every evening people from all faith come to light candles and pray. This Cathedral adds the beauty of Hazratganj.
